Mitooma, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | Popular singer Alexander Bagonza, popularly known as A Pass, has clarified that he is not associated with a viral poster circulating on social media that suggests he will be performing at an event to welcome President Museveni in Mitooma District.
The poster, which has been widely shared online, lists A Pass among the performers scheduled for a welcome event organized by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and his father in Ruhinda North, Mitooma. This has led to some backlash from netizens, particularly those who support his friend and political rival, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
The viral poster also includes other well-known figures from the music industry, such as Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleone, and Eddy Kenzo.
In a video posted on his social media accounts, A Pass stated that he only became aware of the viral poster when it surfaced on X (formerly Twitter). He emphasized that he has not made any arrangements to perform at the event in question.
“I also saw the poster on Twitter (X). I didn’t know about it. I was contacted by my lawyer that a friend of mine wanted me to perform at his dad’s thanksgiving, he is making 80 years, and the friend of mine is a friend to Hon Tayebwa and I was supposed to perform on Sunday. All of a sudden a poster on Twitter (X) and it has me supposed to perform where Rt Hon (Deputy Speaker Tayebwa) is welcoming the President, and I personally do not perform on anything political,” A Pass said.
The singer confirmed that he has not been scheduled to perform at the event and asserted that he will not be participating in the lineup.

“I was not booked for anything like that. I was not paid for anything like that and I am not performing at anything like that. So, don’t throw around words when you do not know the whole story because I also didn’t know what was happening,” he said.
President Museveni is anticipated to visit Mitooma this Sunday, where he will join Daudi Bangirana, the father of Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, in celebrating his 80th birthday with a thanksgiving ceremony at Rwakitandara Playground.
The event will also be attended by several dignitaries, including Archbishop Lambert Bainomugisha of Mbarara.
