Nairobi, Kenya | By Michael Wandati | President William Ruto is set to embark on a four-day development tour of the Luo Nyanza region, beginning on Wednesday 28, August 2024.
This visit follows the recent collaboration between President Ruto and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga.
The President’s itinerary starts in Migori County, where he will launch the Kegonga cluster water project and inspect the Lower Kuja irrigation project. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Ngere-Mapera road.
On Thursday, President Ruto will head to Homa Bay County to commission the Oyugis water project and inspect the Homa Bay fish market. He will also launch the Rusinga ring road and attend a thanksgiving ceremony for Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi.
Friday’s schedule includes a visit to Siaya County, where President Ruto will commission the Mageta Island solar project in Bondo and launch the Siaya economic stimulus programme market in Alego Usonga.
While in Siaya, he will also inaugurate the Siaya rice mill project and attend a thanksgiving service for Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi in Ugunja.

The President will conclude his Luo Nyanza region tour on Saturday in Kisumu County. His activities include commissioning the Kisumu marine school within the port area, visiting the Lake Basin Development Authority rice mill in Kisumu East, and inspecting the Lumumba affordable housing project.
The tour will conclude with the launch of the Nyabondo Trauma Centre in Nyakach constituency.
In preparation for the visit, Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo hosted a meeting with all Luo Nyanza Members of Parliament on Monday.
The discussions emphasized the visit’s significance and its potential to boost the local economy.
