Nairobi, Kenya | By Michael Wandati | As authorities ramp up efforts to curb the illegal entry of undocumented foreign nationals, 11 male suspects have been arrested in Kitale during an intelligence-led operation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ (DCI) Operation Support Unit (OSU).
The group, which included three Kenyan men and eight foreign nationals from Somalia and Uganda, was en route to Nairobi’s Eastleigh area from Uganda in a Toyota Hiace, registration number KCF 860E.
“The eleven who were headed to Nairobi’s Eastleigh area from Uganda included three Kenyan men and eight Somalia and Uganda nationals, chauffeured in a Toyota Hiace Reg No. KCF 860E.,” the DCI said in a statement on X.
Despite attempts to evade police surveillance, the driver eventually surrendered, leading to the apprehension of all suspects. They are currently detained at Tarakwa Police Station.
“After fruitless efforts to slide away from the police shadow closing in on them, the vehicle driver pulled over in surrender, hence the arrest and detention of the suspects at Tarakwa Police Station.”
Authorities are currently investigating the incident further.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ (DCI) Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) is currently questioning the arrested foreign nationals to uncover the nature of their activities in Kenya.
The ATPU is also investigating the possibility that the individuals may have fallen victim to human trafficking.
The investigation aims to determine the full extent of the situation and any potential connections to illegal networks.
