Nursing student drowns in Kiwa Heritage hot springs

Kasese, Uganda | URN | One person has been confirmed dead after allegedly drowned in Kiwa Heritage Hot Springs in Kitonzi cell in Bulembia Division in Kasese municipality.

The deceased has been identified as 22-year-old Moses Mugume, a second year student of Rwenzori School of Nursing in Kasese town. Kiwa Heritage is a community conservation area, which offers leisure services.

On Sunday evening, Kiwa Heritage hosted several local artists who performed to hundreds of revelers who had turned up for the event organized by Code Media Events.

Ericana Kisobolhu, the Director Kiwa Heritage, says Mugume was picked from the hot springs around 9PM after one of the revelers noticed that he was lying unconscious in the pool.

Kisobolhu says Mugume was rushed to Kilembe Mines Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

This publication couldn’t independently verify if the deceased was drunk when he entered the pool. Kilembe Mines Hospital administrator, Onesmus Kibaya promised to comment after the post mortem exercise.

The Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, Vincent Twesige, says investigations into the incident are underway to ascertain how the young man met his death.
