Fort Portal, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | At least 20 people have been confirmed dead in a Kampala-bound Link Bus accident in Fort Portal, Kabarole District in western Uganda.
The nasty Link Bus accident occurred on Wednesday 4, May 2022 at around 10.30 am at Sebitoli along the Fort Portal-Kampala highway.
Traffic police spokesperson Faridah Nampiima said that out of the 20, 13 were adults and 7 juveniles. The identities of the dead are yet to be established.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus registration number UBA 003S, which was heading to Kampala from Bundibugyo swayed off the road and overturned several times.
Fort Portal Regional Referral hospital where the accident survivors were rushed is overwhelmed by the high number of victims.

Several ambulances were seen evacuating the injured to Buhinga hospital and Fort Portal regional refferal hospital as family members jostled at the accident scene in attempt to establish the statuses of their relatives.
The hospital was forced to set up a tent outside the surgical ward to attend to the victims after the ward got filled up.
The Fort Portal Link Bus accident happened just hours after another accident involving three cars happened along Mbale-Tirinyi road, killing six people and injuring scores.
