FDC warns on rigging in Arua municipality by-election
Bruce Musema has said that there are plans by the Electoral Commission (EC) to rig the polls in favour of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party candidate, Nusura Tiperu

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party candidate for the Arua Municipality MP seat has demanded impartiality and vigilance from the Electoral Commission (EC) ahead of next week’s by-election.

Bruce Musema said that there are plans by the Electoral Commission (EC) to rig the polls in favour of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party candidate, Nusura Tiperu.

The by-election will take place next week Wednesday, August 15th.

Musema urged his supporters to protect their votes right from the polling stations up to the tally centre.

“Your votes are my power to the Parliament and ensure that no one tampers with them. We are going to make sure our outright win which you have already determined not stolen in the hands of the EC,” Musema noted.

He added that FDC will do all it takes to protect their votes from ‘unscrupulous people’ planning to steal the upcoming elections.

Kaps Hassan Fungaroo, the MP Obongi and chief mobilizer for Musema, says the national FDC team will soon head to Arua and camp at strategic positions where they will closely keep watch on the electoral process to ensure that there is no gap for rigging.

“We already know that plans are being hatched to steal the votes and as FDC we shall never allow that to take place,” Fungaroo warned.

Meanwhile, Wadri Kassiano, a founder member of FDC party and an independent candidate in the race says that he and his supporters have already unearthed plans to rig the election.

“There are plans every time to try and rig the elections in Arua Municipality but our spirited efforts are yielding positive results and we shall not leave a single space for them to manipulate the results,” warned Wadri.

Dr Kiiza Besigye, the former FDC president and President Museveni are expected in Arua in the coming days to rally support for their respective party flag bearers.

Ruth Angom Acic, the Arua District Registrar, says the electoral process shall be done in a transparent manner and challenges those anticipating fraud in the upcoming elections to provide proof of evidence.
