Security guard holds Indian boss at gunpoint, robs Shs 8m

Kabale, Uganda | URN | A private security guard belonging to Accurate Security Company Ltd, Amos Ecidu is on the run after allegedly robbing Shs 8 million from an Indian businessman he was entrusted to guard.

Ecidu allegedly robbed his Indian boss, Shintole Nisnant at gunpoint in Makanga village, Central Division in Kabale municipality around 9:30 pm on Friday 15, July 2022 night.

Nisnant, who manages the Tiptop Bakery Kabale Branch, says that after retiring from work, Ecidu together with an unidentified man held him at gunpoint and ordered him to surrender all the money he had on him.

The suspects allegedly ordered him to open the safe and give them money or else they would shoot him dead. According to Nisnant, he surrendered Shs 8 million to the suspects in order to save his life.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, says that Ecidu abandoned his firearm before fleeing with his accomplice. Maate says that efforts to trace the suspects to face charges of aggravated robbery are underway.
