Kenya confirms first case of coronavirus

Nairobi, Kenya | By Michael Wandati | Kenya has confirmed its first case of Coronavirus since the beginning of the outbreak in China in December 2019 . This is also the first case in East Africa.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on Friday 13th, March 2020 said the patient is a Kenyan female student who travelled from United States via London, United Kingdom on the 5th March 2020.

He said that although the patient, a Kenyan, is clinically stable and eating, she will not be released from isolation at the Infectious Diseases Unit at Kenyatta National Hospital until she is confirmed negative.

The government says it has traced all contacts the patient made since her arrival in Kenya.
