Kamwenge, Uganda| By Michael Wandati | The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) have announced the lethal shooting of two suspected rebels linked to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) and apprehended their commander within the Kibale Forest National Park in Kamwenge district.
Gen. Felix Kulayigye, UPDF spokesperson, verified the incident during an interview with the Kampala Dispatch. He noted that these rebels had escaped during the SHUJA operation in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), emphasizing the ongoing efforts to neutralize the threat in the area.
Meanwhile, President Yoweri Museveni has listed the names of Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels killed by the UPDF in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
“We have been carrying out air attacks on the terrorists in Congo. We normally identify those targets by both technical and human intelligence,” said President Museveni in a statement on Wednesday 13, December 2023.
“Using those means, you can know that many terrorists were killed. However, you will not know who, until human sources bring in their reports,” he added.
President Museveni said the UPDF has killed over 200 terrorists in attacks carried out in Eastern DR Congo.
