Namutumba, Uganda | URN | Namutumba district LC V chairperson Hajji Saleh Kumbuga has succumbed to coronavirus [COVID-19] disease.
Kumbuga died Wednesday 16th, December 2020 at Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he spent two weeks in intensive care, according to the Lands State Minister and Bukono County MP, Persis Namuganza.
The deceased’s nephew, Hajji Siraji Gusongweire, who also doubles as the Namutumba district National Resistance Movement [NRM] chairperson, says his uncle was admitted two months ago with cardiac-related illness.
“Hajji Kumbuga has been battling heart-related illnesses for about four years. At the time of his death, Kumbuga had been admitted at Mulago hospital for close to two months,” he says.
Namutumba district male Youth Councillor Yusuf Dabada says Kumbuga will be remembered for his efforts to inspire youth to aspire for bigger leadership positions.
Kumbuga first served as Namutumba town council LC V Councillor for two terms before contesting for the LC V chairperson seat in 2016.

In 2019, he announced his decision to step down from elective politics because of his deteriorating health on the advice of his medics.
He, however, backtracked on his decision and decided to run in the NRM primaries for the Eastern region Elderly’s representative which he lost and his condition deteriorated thereafter.
