Impressive Standards: Janet Museveni applauds venue for NAM, G77+China summits

Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | During a recent tour of the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, the First Lady, Janet Museveni expressed her admiration for the impressive standards set by the Ruparelia Group, led by Sudhir, in preparation for the ongoing Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the upcoming G77+China Heads of State and Government Summits.

Mrs. Museveni lauded the Ruparelia Group for their commendable work on the multi-billion project, emphasizing their attention to detail and level of preparedness. She highlighted the importance of maintaining such high standards not only for the current summits but also for future events.

“I would like to express my appreciation to the Ruparelia Group for their commendable work in preparing the Convention Centre for these Summits. Their attention to detail and level of preparedness is truly praiseworthy,” Janet Museveni said.

“However, I want to emphasize the importance of maintaining these high standards. It is crucial to conduct continuous checks on all amenities, ensuring they remain in excellent working condition not only during the Summits but also in the future,” she added.

The Convention Centre, developed through a joint venture with the government, has already played a significant role in giving Uganda a notable makeover for international summits.

Hosting events like the 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) from January 3-6, the facility is currently accommodating the NAM conference and is set to host the upcoming G77+China Heads of State and Government Summits.

Key features of the Convention Centre include a state-of-the-art multipurpose hall, a 4,000-seater auditorium, 12 high-end conference rooms, and a floating restaurant capable of hosting more than 900 guests.

The Centre, designed to handle over three million passengers annually, stands as a testament to Uganda’s commitment to providing world-class facilities for international gatherings.
