Uhuru meets Museveni to deliberate on regional peace and security
The Facilitator of the EAC-led Nairobi Peace Process, H.E President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta today paid a courtesy call to H.E Yoweri Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda to discuss matters on regional peace and security.

Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | Former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta engaged in private talks with Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday 7, February 2024 to deliberate on regional peace and security, alongside recent developments in Eastern DR Congo.

Uhuru, serving as the facilitator for the East African Community-led Nairobi Peace Process, focused the conversation on matters related to regional peace and security.

A post on President Museveni’s social media platforms shared brief insights into the private meeting with Uhuru Kenyatta.

“This afternoon at State House Entebbe, I met with the Facilitator of the EAC-led Nairobi Peace Process, H.E. President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss the regional mandate alongside recent developments in Eastern DRC,” President Museveni said.

The Nairobi Process, launched in April 2022, is a regional peace effort designed to address the conflict in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Grounded in principles such as inclusivity, dialogue, ownership, regional leadership, and international support, this initiative aims for a comprehensive resolution.

Former President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, the Facilitator of the East African Community (EAC) – led Nairobi Peace Process meets Uganda’s President Museveni.

The EAC Heads of State appointed Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta to the role of Facilitator, entrusting him with the responsibility of spearheading peace and overseeing the successful implementation of the Nairobi Process.

His mandate encompasses coordinating and leading a holistic peace process that involves both political dialogue and military interventions.
