Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | Popular Ugandan singer, Eddy Kenzo, on Wednesday 10, April 2024 revealed that he shares a child with the newly appointed Minister of state for Minerals in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals Development, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro.

Their relationship came to light when Edrisah Kenzo Musuuza, professionally known as Eddy Kenzo accompanied Phiona Nyamutoro to her inauguration ceremony at State House in March 2024, prompting speculation about their connection.

During a performance at the Comedy Store UG event held at UMA Showgrounds on Wednesday 10th, Kenzo affectionately referred to Hon. Nyamutoro as his “personal person.”

“I have to tell you this. Hon. Nyamutoro is my personal person and we have a kid together,” said Eddy Kenzo.

In an interview with Galaxy TV in October 2023, Nyamutoro said she got to know Eddy Kenzo many years ago.

“Yes. I do know Eddy Kenzo. I cannot ascertain to say he is a friend but I do know him. I have known him not just now, Eddy Kenzo is one of those artists that I have known for years. I knew him before I was a Member of Parliament,” Nyamutoro said.

Reports have surfaced detailing Hon. Nyamutoro’s involvement in Eddy Kenzo’s music career, particularly in recent years.

The young legislator from West Nile was reportedly a prominent figure at the Eddy Kenzo Music Festival held at the Kololo Independence Grounds on November 12, 2022. The event garnered significant attention, drawing a large crowd that nearly filled the expansive venue.

Following the festival, Kenzo emotionally addressed the press, expressing gratitude to his fans for their overwhelming support. Nyamutoro, then a freshman legislator representing youths in Parliament, played a crucial role in organizing the concert. She was reportedly responsible for various aspects of the event, including gate collections and logistics.

In a radio interview last year, Nyamutoro acknowledged her long-standing professional relationship with Kenzo and highlighted her efforts to support his interests, including advocating for copyright laws through her position in government and the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UMF).
