Kampala, Uganda | By Michael Wandati | Socialite Sheila Gashumba has announced the end of her relationship with singer Derrick Ddungu, who is popularly known as Rickman Manrick.
In a statement obtained by the Kampala Dispatch, Sheila expressed that their time together was marked by affection, joy, and individual development. However, they have collectively decided to go their separate ways.
“We have reached a mutual decision to respectfully go our separate ways, understanding that our paths diverge,” Sheila shared.
Looking back on their journey, Sheila expressed appreciation for the moments they experienced together.
“We are grateful for the beautiful moments we have cherished together,” she said.
With this new phase in her life unfolding, Sheila has kindly asked for privacy as she dedicates her attention to personal development, pursuing career goals, and fostering significant friendships.
“I am currently single and not actively seeking a new relationship. My primary focus is on personal growth and pursuing my career goals,” she clarified.
She expressed gratitude to their fans and followers for their understanding and support during this transitional phase.
The former couple, known for their widely publicized and mostly joyful relationship, have decided to part ways after being together for three years.
Earlier discussions this year hinted at the possibility of them taking their relationship to the next level.
However, the specific reasons behind their separation were not disclosed in the statement shared online.
Their relationship initially faced public scrutiny, including criticism from Sheila’s father, Frank Gashumba, who once made remarks about her boyfriend’s financial situation and dependency, likening his appearance to that of warlord Joseph Kony.
In a leaked voice note last year, Mr. Gashumba voiced his concerns about his daughter Sheila’s lack of respect and disobedience.

“She doesn’t respect or listen to me. I have given her everything but that is how she has turned out. She is wasting away her youth,” he said.
Mr. Gashumba remarked that Sheila introduced him to a boyfriend who looked disheveled.
“One day they found me at a restaurant in Nsambya, he was with that rascal and his father, he had pierced ears and a nose, and was wearing Kony’s hairstyle. You bring such people to me, Gashumba? Even if I’m dead,” he raved.
Before her relationship with Rickman, Sheila was romantically involved with socialite Ali Marcus Lwanga, commonly known as God’s Plan, who had children from a previous marriage.
